Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking enthusiastic Youth Development Counselors for our before and after-school programs. This role involves ensuring a safe, inclusive, and enriching environment for children within our community programs.

Counselors will engage with youth in meaningful activities while fostering their development and well-being. Flexible schedules and opportunities for professional growth are offered as part of a supportive, mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• 6 months experience working with youth.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certification, or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to pass background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and immunizations as per guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Champion safety and supervision of children.
• Guide positive behavior among participants.
• Lead fun and enriching activities.
• Model YMCA values in all actions.
• Support daily operations and maintain a safe environment.
• Build strong relationships with children and families.
• Follow child-protection policies diligently.
