Youth Development Coordinator - Maple Ponds (Manufacturing)

Summary: Seeking a full-time Program Coordinator passionate about community engagement and youth development to support the YMCA Neighborhood Center at Maple Pond Homes. Responsibilities include developing and executing programs, curriculum, and events related to family support, academics (tutoring grades K-6), childcare, food security, fitness, recreation, and more.

YMCA Neighborhood Centers provide youth and family services within affordable housing complexes to support basic needs and life skills development.

The position offers an hourly wage of $18.00, with salary considerations based on experience and background. Benefits and earned time off are included, varying by employment status. Staff may bring youth (ages 5-12) to the center.

Job Summary:

The Youth Development Coordinator oversees programs within the youth, teen, and family department, ensuring a safe, positive, and engaging environment. They provide quality customer service and support departmental activities.

Essential Functions:
  1. Assist the Director in planning curricula and promoting youth, teen, and family programs.
  2. Participate actively in programs, activities, and events.
  3. Deliver excellent customer service to members, volunteers, and participants.
  4. Perform administrative duties supporting youth, teen, and family programs, including sports.
  5. Support department trainings and meetings.
  6. In the absence of the Director or Senior Coordinator, provide work direction to staff and volunteers and oversee daily operations.
Relationships:

This role reports to the Youth Support Program Manager, who reports to the Branch Executive or Community Program Director. The incumbent interacts regularly with members, staff, volunteers, and participants, including children, youth, teens, and parents. May provide work direction to staff and volunteers.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • At least one year of experience in youth, teen, or family programming or Beacons
  • Ability to provide quality customer service and evaluate staff
  • Self-directed and detail-oriented
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Basic computer skills
Preferred:
  • Multilingual abilities
  • Experience in playing or coaching sports teams
Work Conditions:

Must perform physical tasks, including mobility, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Ability to react calmly in hazardous situations. Work environment varies from quiet to busy, noisy indoor and outdoor spaces. Active participation in youth activities is required.
