Job summary

Union League Boys & Girls Clubs in Chicago seeks a Youth Development Specialist to deliver daily programs for club youth, implement the organization’s mission, and promote Good Character and Citizenship, Academic Success, and Healthy Lifestyles through engaging activities and positive role modeling.

You will supervise members directly, help coordinators design and execute programs, prepare materials, ensure safety and cleanliness, and support field trips and events.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 or older and enrolled in college or have some college courses.
• Experience working or volunteering with children.
• Demonstrate knowledge of principles related to youth development.
• Ability to plan effectively.
• Group leadership skills and understanding of group dynamics.
• Understanding of the population of youth served.

Responsibilities

• Executes programs designed by the coordinators.
• Assures members are safe and engaged in activities.
• Encourages emotional, social, and educational growth of individual members.
• Direct supervision of club youth members.
• Follow program design of the coordinators.
• Assists coordinators in preparing materials for the day.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of program areas at day end.
• Data entry.
• Staff supervision.
• Chaperone for field trips.
• Moving materials between club and school.
