Job summary

DREAM is seeking Youth Workers to guide students in after-school and summer programs in East Harlem and the South Bronx. You will lead sports, SEL, enrichment and academics for groups of youth, supporting homework and literacy activities.

Successful candidates gain professional development, feedback, and potential to apply for the DREAM Teaching Fellowship to earn degrees and become full-time teachers within DREAM.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older by start date.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to work in person at the school or program site.
• Ability to work during all scheduled hours (school year and summer).
• Experience with groups of school-age children preferred.
• Experience with behavior management preferred.
• Strong energy, warmth, enthusiasm and patience with youth.

Responsibilities

• Lead groups of 18–20 youth after school with activities and academic support.
• Lead groups of up to 28 youth in daily summer camp activities.
• Facilitate or co-facilitate lessons to build social-emotional skills.
• Collaborate with team to plan enrichment activities.
• Model professionalism with attendance and preparation.
• Supervise youth behavior using positive youth development strategies.
• Participate in professional development and training.
• Implement health and safety protocols.
