Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Richmond is seeking a Youth Development Center Director to lead our Chester Family YMCA before- and after-school child care program. You will design engaging, age-appropriate activities and supervise day-to-day operations while building strong relationships with children, families, and school partners.

This leadership role requires excellent communication, supervision of staff, a valid Virginia driver's license, and Virginia DOE licensing qualifications (or CDA).

Qualifications

• Experience supervising staff and supporting program operations.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience leading groups of youth.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Virginia DOE licensing qualifications (college-level coursework or CDA) required.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and implement engaging, age-appropriate developmental programs.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the child care center.
• Supervise and mentor on-site staff.
• Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for school-age children.
• Build strong relationships with children and families; serve as a key communication point.
• Collaborate with school officials and YMCA leadership.
• Ensure compliance with Virginia DOE licensing requirements and YMCA standards.
• Manage site safety, equipment, and facilities.
• Attend and lead required child care trainings.
• Support program administration, budgeting, and staffing needs.
