Job summary

YMCA of Greater Cleveland Recruitment Team is seeking an Assistant Teacher to supervise groups of children in before/after school enrichment or early learning programs. The role focuses on nurturing relationships, safety, and inclusive, developmentally appropriate learning environments.

The candidate will support program planning, family engagement, and adherence to health and safety policies, while promoting positive behavior and collaboration with caregivers.

Qualifications

• High school Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience working with children in a licensed child care center preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification must be completed within 30 days of hire.
• At least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a group of children in licensed Before/After School Enrichment or Early Learning programs.
• Develop positive, nurturing relationships with children and families.
• Support developmentally appropriate learning environments and safe, inclusive play.
• Identify individual differences in personalities, development and culture and respond appropriately.
• Maintain confidentiality and assist with growth observations and assessments.
