Job summary

Linn County in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Juvenile Detention Worker I to supervise and support dependent, neglected, or delinquent youth at the Juvenile Detention Center. The role focuses on safety, assessment, and daily activity planning.

You will build relationships, address behavior, document observations, and respond to emergencies while following the agency's token economy and level-system approaches.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least 1 year of experience in care, counseling, and management of dependent, neglected, and delinquent adolescents.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Supervises dependent, neglected, or delinquent youth in the Juvenile Detention Center.
• Assesses physical, psychological, and emotional needs of youth.
• Conducts intake activities and interviews to obtain information.
• Maintains security and safety of residents.
• Organizes and implements structured daily activities.
• Observes behavior and records for program planning and court reporting.
