Job summary

Douglas County Department of Corrections is seeking a dedicated security professional to manage surveillance and control room duties, escort visitors, and ensure detainee safety. The role supports a 24/7 operation with strict adherence to policy and procedure.

The incumbent will monitor and control movement within the facility, respond to emergencies, and maintain accurate logs while upholding professional conduct and court compliance. A valid license and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent required.
• One year of college studies in Criminal Justice, Behavioral Sciences, Sociology or Psychology preferred.
• 21 years of age or older required.
• Valid driver’s license and transportation required at hire.
• Random drug testing required.
• Pre-employment criminal record check and conditional drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain internal and external security of facility on assigned shift by monitoring surveillance equipment.
• Escort visitors and detainees within the facility and ensure custody during transit.
• Respond to emergencies and use appropriate force when necessary.
• Conduct checks, searches, and inspections to ensure safety and security.
