Youth Dance Instructor - New Tampa Family YMCA

Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Senior Program Director, the Dance Instructor will deliver guided dance instruction for youth participants. The role requires experience in teaching children and the ability to lead age-appropriate classes.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Instruct dance classes based on the provided curriculum for each age and skill level.
2. Proficient in ballet, tap, and jazz; additional dance genres are a plus.
3. Create a positive, safe, and engaging environment for participants.
4. Communicate effectively and motivationally with students.
5. Interact and communicate with parents as needed.
6. Maintain organization within the classroom.
7. Keep attendance records and participant notes.

Education and Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience teaching dance to children.
• At least one year of experience working with children.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of Hip Hop and Ballet styles preferred.
• Availability on Wednesdays is required.

Certifications and Training

• Obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications within 30 days of employment.
• Maintain other certifications as specified in the training matrix.
