The program provides short-term care for youth ages 6 to 17 with challenging behaviors, who are placed due to trauma until a more appropriate, long-term placement can be arranged.

They will also have good interpersonal and communication skills; good de-escalation skills (training is provided); be reliable and dependable; work productively under minimal supervision; have a high degree of integrity and confidentiality; and a schedule that is flexible to meet work requirements.

Qualified candidates must complete a criminal background clearance through the California Department of Justice and FBI to ensure eligibility for employment, as well as a pre-employment physical and TB test.
This position requires a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation as driving is an essential job function. The Youth Counselor must be able to safely and reliably transport youth to medical appointments, therapy sessions, educational activities, and other essential services that support their overall well-being. In addition, the Youth Counselor must be prepared to respond to crisis situations by providing immediate transportation to ensure the safety and security of the youth, often in locations not easily accessible by alternative transportation methods. The nature of these responsibilities necessitates the ability to drive to ensure timely, reliable, confidential and effective support for the youth and families we serve.
