This position will serve as a shift / unit supervisor providing supervision to staff. Position is responsible for and will provide cross supervision for facility operations when serving as the only supervisor on duty. Position will participate in the interview and selection process, making recommendations on hiring decisions, and providing input regarding salary actions. The position will be responsible for performance management planning and evaluation of staff supervised and will make recommendations for disciplinary action. Other administrative responsibilities include implementing and monitoring performance-based standards established by the Council for Juvenile Correctional Administrators, conducting security inspections, maintenance checks and completing related forms and documentation.

  • Must have the ability to carry out specialized programming and provide intense supervision in a specialized unit.
  • Candidate MUST have a valid North Carolina driver's license

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position. These positions are 12 hour shifts to include weekends and holidays. Shifts will be discussed during the interview.

To qualify for this position, applicants must demonstrate ALL of the following KSAs:

  • Knowledge and/or experience of individual and group behavior, child and adolescent development, family systems, individual and group counseling techniques, crisis intervention techniques, the etiology of juvenile delinquency and/or empirically based methods of treatment.
  • Knowledge of minority group cultures, group dynamics, techniques of communicating with adolescents, and/or behavioral/developmental challenges and their treatment.
  • Knowledge of team and consensus building.
  • Knowledge of the organization and operation of treatment programs for juvenile offenders, the NC Juvenile Court System, Criminal Justice standards and/or basic assessment principles.
  • Experience assessing clients to develop appropriate treatment plans, formulate clear goal oriented treatment plans, and/or document progress of juveniles.
  • Experience working with juveniles in an empathetic/understanding manner and establish a collaborative relationship with family.
  • Experience working with juveniles, families, and other treatment team members to explain the behavior and/or progress of the juvenile.

Management Preferences: These skills are not required but managers may choose to interview/select applicants who demonstrate Management Preferences.

  • At least two years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience serving on a multidisciplinary treatment team.
