Job description

Description
  1. Plans and organizes work to meet all job requirements, according to Vista Maria and COA standards, licensing, and funding requirements.
  2. Provides weekly individual counseling to assigned youth.
  3. Completes weekly counseling notes for assigned youth in our computerized systems.
  4. Leads daily groups to improve functions of the body and brain.
  5. Assists youth with activities of daily living; attends to adaptive behaviors and assists through collaboration and crisis intervention, as needed.
  6. Ensures youth participate daily in an hour of recreational therapy.
  7. Maintains confidentiality.
  8. Transports youth to and from appointments, home visits, and outings as needed.
  9. Acts as an advocate in treatment team meetings, and court hearings as needed.
  10. Attends and participates in in-service training, and all staff meetings as scheduled.
  11. Maintains established policies and procedures, programming, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  12. Collaborates with youth, families, and external agencies.
  13. Acts as a liaison between the Therapist and youth when there are barriers in trust and connections with Therapists.
  14. Plans activities, birthday parties as needed.
  15. Completes assigned accountabilities weekly.
  16. Contributes to the team daily and lives the agency mission, vision, and core values.
  17. Completes all other related tasks as required or assigned by the supervisor and/or clinical unit manager.
  18. Demonstrates diversity, equity, and inclusion responsiveness, personal integrity, and professional demeanor in accordance with Vista Maria ethics and the ethics of the program.
  19. Adheres to the mandatory stay-over schedule.
  20. Knowledge of adverse childhood experiences and how they affect the body and brain.
  21. Demonstration of emotional regulation skills.
  22. Demonstrates safe and appropriate boundaries to vulnerable youth.
  23. Knowledge of sensory interventions.
  24. Proficiency in basic computer skills.
  25. Ability to interact positively in a culturally diverse environment.
  26. Promotes and supports the agency's cultural and core values of a trauma-informed, family-engaged, youth-driven, integrated health environment.
Requirements
Minimum Required
  1. Bachelor's degree in any major from an accredited college or university.
  2. Ability to verbally de-escalate and utilize safe, non-harmful techniques when youth present danger to themselves or others.
  3. Valid driver's license.
  4. Ability to pass physical and drug screenings and required background checks.
  5. Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred
  1. Bachelor's degree in a human behavioral science or another major with 25% of the credits in a human behavioral science from an accredited college or university.
  2. 1 year experience working with youth exposed to trauma.
  3. First Aide/CPR trained.
