Come work with us as a Youth Counselor and contribute to the positive transformation of at-risk teens in our adolescent residential academy program located in Yanceyville, NC!

Positions Available

Day Shift, Night Shift, and PRN positions available, with pay rates from $16.50 to $18.25.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a positive, supportive role model, guiding and influencing group activities to enhance youth confidence and self-esteem. Ensure the progress and welfare of each client through therapeutic programs and supervise staff during various shifts.
  • Lead youth through daily activities, providing group and individual counseling focused on strength-based development. Use cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to help youth define and achieve their life goals, addressing thinking errors along the way.
Qualifications
  • Must be 21 or older per DJJ guidelines.
  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least two years' relevant experience working with youth; a bachelor's in social/behavioral services or outdoor recreation is preferred. College coursework in social or human services can substitute experience.
  • Experience in a therapeutic or rehabilitative setting preferred.
  • Ability to travel across the property, including wilderness terrain, and participate in aquatic activities. Must pass crisis intervention/physical restraint certification and exam. Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet auto insurance requirements. Must pass a drug screen.
About Our Program

Eckerd Connects' Short-Term Juvenile Justice Residential program offers a 4-6 month rehabilitative experience for adjudicated male youth, ages 13-17, in North Carolina. The program combines evidence-based practices with family transition components, focusing on individualized treatment, education, behavioral health, and family counseling in a supportive environment.
