Job summary

The Children’s Home of Reading Youth & Family Services (CHOR YFS) in Germantown, PA is hiring a part-time Youth Counselor for a 10pm–6am shift. Earn $19.00 per hour, with paid training, and opportunities for career growth within a mission‑driven residential treatment program serving youth.

Join a compassionate team that provides supervision, mentoring, and behavioral support in a structured setting. You’ll help youth develop life skills, document progress in EHRs, and collaborate with clinicians

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or two years of college in a social or human services-related field.
• High school diploma with at least two years of experience working with youth.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Resident Care & Supervision: supervise residents and maintain a safe, structured environment.
• Behavioral & Therapeutic Support: support school, activities, and treatment goals.
• Documentation & Team Collaboration: maintain EHRs and coordinate with clinical staff.
• Attend required meetings and trainings.

What You’ll Do

As a Youth Counselor, you’ll provide supervision, mentoring, guidance, and support to youth in a structured residential treatment program. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you’ll help create a safe, therapeutic environment where youth can grow and succeed.

Your responsibilities include:

Resident Care & Supervision

• Supervise residents while maintaining a safe and structured environment.
• Build trusting relationships through positive role modeling and mentorship.
• Ensure the safety and security of residents and the facility.

Behavioral & Therapeutic Support

• Supervise youth during school, recreation, appointments, community outings, and daily activities.
• Support individualized treatment plans and behavioral goals.
• Encourage positive decision-making and independent living skills.

Documentation & Team Collaboration

• Maintain accurate Electronic Health Records (EHR) and required documentation.
• Complete incident reports and resident progress notes.
• Collaborate with clinical staff, case managers, and fellow team members.
• Attend required meetings and trainings.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree or two years of college in a social or human services-related field OR
• High school diploma (or equivalent) with at least two years of experience working with youth

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Valid driver's license required
• Basic computer skills
• Must successfully pass criminal background (including FBI) and child abuse clearances

Schedule

• Part-Time
• Must be available to work 3rd shift (10pm-6am), including weekends
