The Child Center of NY is seeking a College and Career Advisor to guide students toward school success, workplace readiness, and future professional goals. The role involves advising students and families on college options, financial aid, and career pathways, with a focus on empowering youth in NYC communities.

Responsibilities include monitoring progress, coordinating interventions, and partnering with schools and community organizations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency.
• Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali or other language may be required.
• Experience working with youth for at least one year.
• Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently.
• Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines and multi-task.

Responsabilités

• Monitor student academic progress and coordinate interventions to support graduation.
• Educate and advise students and parents about postsecondary options and funding sources.
• Publicize information on standardized tests and support AP/PSAT administration.
• Assess interests and develop academic/career goals with students.
• Advocate for students’ rights and self-advocacy.
• Provide timely support for issues affecting school performance and refer to mental health services if needed.
• Maintain relationships with families and coordinate with schools and employers.
