Job summary

The New Orleans Family Justice Center is seeking a Youth Case Manager to empower families and help them flourish by designing and modifying service plans, connecting families to supports, and tracking progress toward goals. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related mental health field.
• 1–2 years providing mental health services or family support, especially for those affected by domestic violence or sexual assault.
• Ability to establish effective relationships with children and caregivers while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, and comfort working with parents and onsite partners.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed, culturally responsive care and impact on families.
• Ability to document and problem solve effectively.
• Punctual, reliable, and a team player.
• Must pass federal and state background checks.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for the needs and best interests of children and families.
• Provide age-appropriate support and education to children and caregivers.
• Identify service gaps and communicate unmet needs to the department director.
• Connect children and families with internal and external resources based on identified needs.
• Monitor client progress and regularly reassess needs and services.
• Manage client case records, including documentation, information, correspondence and authorization.
• Maintain accurate program and client data for reporting and evaluation purposes.
• Track client participation and progress toward established goals.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case consultations.
• Collaborate with counselors, school staff, and other services the family is involved in.
• Screen clients referrals for program appropriateness
• Perform other duties as directed by the department director.
• Assist with recruitment and engagement of children and families in NOFJC programs.
• Participate in trainings, professional development, and community outreach activities

The New Orleans Family Justice Center is a nationally recognized, dynamic collaborative organization dedicated to providing immediate, effective and comprehensive services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.

The Youth Case Manager is responsible for empowering families and equipping them to flourish. The case manager will set specific goals with each family, design, and modify service plans, connect families to adequate supports and track ongoing progress towards program goals.

• Minimum 1-2 years providing mental health services or family support specifically those impacted by domestic violence and/or sexual assault
• Ability to establish effective relationships with children and caregivers while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines
• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, and will be comfortable with working with parents and onsite partners.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed, culturally responsive care and impact on families
• Ability to effectively document and problem solve.
• Must be punctual, reliable, and a team player
• Must be able to pass federal and state background check

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bilingual (spoken and written)
• Advanced training or certification in trauma-focused, crisis interventions, motivational interviewing, or other relevant approaches.
• Experience working in community-based or non-profit settings and service coordination
• Proven ability to develop and lead therapeutic groups
