Job summary

The Child Center of NY is seeking a Youth Advocate to support adolescents' social and personal development after school at our New York sites. You will guide youth in academic, vocational, and personal lives, coordinating seminars and counseling sessions with families and service providers.

Responsibilities include liaising with protective services, identifying needs, mentoring progress, and keeping up with popular culture to guide youth effectively. Monday–Friday hours after school will apply.

Qualifications

• Bilingual ability may be required depending on client needs.
• Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently.
• Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines and multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Arrange seminars and counseling sessions for youth groups, communities, and their families to handle issues.
• Liaise between adolescents and protective services, psychologists, and other services.
• Identify behavioral or mental issues and determine remedial measures through examinations.
• Assess the client’s home environments, conditions, and characteristics.
• Participate in mentoring activities and assess progress toward goals.
• Demonstrate as a positive role model and guide youth appropriately.
