Job summary

Positive Alternatives, Inc. is seeking a Youth Care Worker in Menomonie, Wisconsin to support teenage residents in a therapeutic living environment.

You will facilitate daily programming, engage residents in activities, meals, and groups, and document daily progress. Responsibilities include responding to resident needs, attending team meetings and training, and helping maintain a safe, supportive atmosphere.

Qualifications

  • Experience caring for youth or in childcare preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to type and document daily activities.
  • Current student or graduate in human services, behavioral counseling, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience with adolescents preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily programming activities and promote positive participation.
  • Engage with residents through recreational activities, groups, meals, and other aspects of daily living.
  • Respond to critical resident needs as they arise.
  • Develop and maintain a therapeutic, safe, and supportive environment.
  • Attend house and team meetings and trainings.

Job description

As a Youth Care Worker, you will facilitate a positive living environment for our teenage residents by offering support, encouragement, and guidance. The ability to understand the perspective of others is critical and staff must truly care about the success of youth. You will work alongside residents to support achievement of treatment goals through engagement in healthy and productive daily activities by doing the following:

  • Leading daily programming activities and promoting positive participation
  • Engage with residents through recreational activities, groups, meals, and other aspects of daily living

Responding to critical resident needs as they arise

  • Participate in developing and maintaining a therapeutic, safe, and supportive environment

Actively participating in house and team meetings

  • Attending initial and ongoing training sessions

The minimum shift requirement is one weekday shift per week and two shifts every other weekend. Additional shifts may be available for individuals interested in working additional hours above the minimum requirement. Typical shifts for this position include:

  • Weekdays - 3pm to 10pm
  • Weekends - 9am to 3pm, 3pm to 11pm, and midnight to 6am
  • Holidays (rotation) - 9am to 3pm, 3pm to 11pm, and midnight to 6am
