The Youth Care Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the home, ensuring a safe, supportive, and structured environment for youth who have experienced significant trauma. This role provides leadership to staff, implements trauma-informed care practices, and ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The supervisor is responsible for fostering a positive, therapeutic atmosphere that promotes the well-being, personal growth, and stability of residents while maintaining a high standard of care and accountability.
Experience with an at-risk youth population and one year of supervisory experience is required. Previous experience with the Department of Juvenile Justice is preferred.
CNHC Group Homes provide support 24/7, and supervision is essential around the clock. This role primarily covers overnight and weekend shifts, but flexibility is essential. The Overnight/Weekend Supervisor will share responsibilities and coordinate scheduling with the two daytime supervisors to ensure full program coverage and work-life balance for the team.
Travel in and outside of Circuit 13 may be required. Valid driver’s license, clean driver’s license check, and proof of insurance is required.
All employees must complete twenty-one (21) hours of on-line or classroom Training on an annual basis. As well as any additional mandatory training identified. Group home employees must complete all trainings required by the Department of Children and Families and Children’s Network of Hillsborough in relation to working with dependent populations in a residential group home setting.
This position provides direct oversight to up to twelve youth care specialist, in total. The total number of staff per shift to provide supervision is a minimum of 1 staff to 6 youth.
Two years of college in a social or human service field or a high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of five years prior experience working with youth is required.
Bachelor’s degree, from an accredited College or University, in social or behavioral services or outdoor recreation specialties preferred.
Previous experience with at risk youth in a residential or Department of Juvenile Justice setting is preferred.
Must possess strong leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills to effectively support youth who have experienced significant trauma. This role requires the ability to build trusting relationships, implement trauma-informed care practices, and respond to crisis situations with patience and empathy. The supervisor must demonstrate strong conflict resolution skills, de-escalation techniques, and the ability to provide guidance and support to both residents and staff. Additionally, organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment are essential. Experience in behavioral management, coaching staff, and ensuring a safe and structured living environment is highly valued.
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with residents, staff, families, and external stakeholders. This role requires the ability to read, interpret, and apply policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines. The supervisor must be able to document incidents, complete reports, and communicate clearly in meetings and training sessions. Strong active listening skills, conflict resolution abilities, and the capacity to provide constructive feedback are essential. Bilingual abilities may be beneficial but are not required.
Must have basic mathematical skills to manage budgets, track expenses, and oversee financial transactions related to the home’s operations. This role requires the ability to calculate figures such as percentages, proportions, and basic statistical data to analyze reports and staffing needs. Additionally, the supervisor must be able to accurately complete documentation, review financial records, and ensure compliance with funding and reporting requirements
Must possess strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess situations and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment. This role requires the ability to interpret policies, procedures, and regulations while applying them effectively in day-to-day operations. The supervisor must demonstrate sound judgment in handling conflicts, crisis situations, and behavioral challenges, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents and staff. Strong analytical skills, adaptability, and the ability to assess risks and implement appropriate interventions are essential for success in this role.
Role requires the ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods. Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds as needed and assist with client mobility when necessary. The position may involve occasional bending, reaching, and kneeling. The position may require driving and transportation of youth. This role also requires the ability to respond quickly in crisis situations, maintain a calm demeanor under pressure, and engage in physical intervention techniques when appropriate, following established safety protocols.
This environment is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires flexibility and adaptability. The position is primarily based in a group home setting, where direct interaction with residents, staff, and external partners is frequent. The role may involve exposure to emotionally challenging situations, behavioral crises, and varying levels of noise. Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required to ensure 24/7 coverage and support. The supervisor must be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, as well as responding to emergency situations as needed.
