Job summary

University of Utah Health seeks a compassionate staff member to provide safe, therapeutic care for psychiatric patients within an on-site team at Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI). You will assist with admissions, patient orientation, and coordination of care with the interdisciplinary team.

The role involves facilitating group activities, supporting treatment planning, and contributing to patient care plans under RN supervision.

Qualifications

• Six months of behavioral health or direct patient care experience (CNA, MA, HCA, Teacher’s aide or assistant)
• Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system; to be obtained within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, hazard-free environment by observing patient behavior and documenting conditions
• Assist with patient admissions, including information gathering and searches for contraband
• Orient patients and families to facility policies and procedures
• Escort patients to appointments and activities with safety as priority
• Lead or co-lead activity and group therapy to support therapeutic milieu
