Responsibilities

• Ensure games begin and end on schedule while maintaining pace of play
• Arrive on time and be attentive during shifts
• Communicate clearly with players, coaches, officials, and supervisors
• Address rule questions and minor disputes calmly while enforcing policies
• Report injuries, emergencies, incidents, rule violations, or facility concerns promptly
• Assist with light setup and cleanup of equipment as needed
• Attend meetings and training to stay current on rules and procedures
• Represent the Minot Park District in a positive and professional manner
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Youth Basketball Scorekeeper

Salary Range: $13.00 To $13.00 Hourly

General Purpose:

The Youth Basketball Scorekeeper is responsible for scorekeeping recreational basketball games in a fair, consistent, and professional manner while promoting a positive experience for participants, coaches, and spectators.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities:

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

• Scorekeep youth basketball games according to league rules and Minot Park District policies.
• Accurately track game scores, fouls, timeouts, and game times.
• Ensure games begin and end on schedule while maintaining an efficient pace of play.
• Arrive on time and be attentive throughout their shift.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with players, coaches, officials, and supervisors.
• Address rule questions and minor disputes calmly and professionally while enforcing league policies.
• Report injuries, emergencies, incidents, rule violations, or facility concerns to the supervisor immediately.
• Assist with light setup and cleanup of basketball equipment before and after games as needed.
• Attend required meetings and training sessions to stay current on league rules, procedures, and expectations.
• Represent the Minot Park District in a positive and professional manner.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

• Previous basketball playing, coaching, or scorekeeping experience preferred but not required.
• Training will be provided for qualified applicants.

Knowledge/Skills:

• Basic knowledge of basketball rules and gameplay or willingness to learn.
• Ability to make quick, confident decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to remain calm, impartial, and professional during competitive situations.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.

Schedule Requirements:

• Flexible scheduling based on league needs.
• Games are typically scheduled Monday through Thursday evenings, with occasional Saturday games.
• Scorekeepers work with the recreation supervisor to establish availability and schedules.

Other duties as assigned and performed as required.
