Job summary

Des Plaines Park District in Illinois is seeking a Youth Basketball Instructor to teach fundamentals to youth aged 5–10. You will implement drills, monitor progress, and safeguard equipment while communicating issues to the Athletic & Facilities Supervisor.

Requirements include CPR and First Aid certification, prior experience with children, and a customer-service oriented approach. This is a part-time position based at district facilities with duties in camp settings and emergency response.

Qualifications

• Some High School education.
• 16 years of age or older.
• Previous experience with teaching or watching children.
• CPR and First Aid Certification.

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans and drills as directed by supervisor.
• Demonstrate basketball knowledge and assess children’s progress.
• Maintain equipment and ensure safe usage.
• Communicate medical or behavior issues to supervisor.
• Provide First Aid when necessary.
• Ensure safety of participants during practices and games.
• Work in camp settings with varying ages and skill levels.
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures in Employee and Crisis Manuals.
• Direct participants in emergencies and coordinate with supervisor on equipment repair.
