Job summary

The YMCA of Columbia-Willamette Beaverton branch is seeking a Semi-Competitive Basketball Coach for our Fall 2026 Developmental Basketball League. This seasonal, part-time role focuses on developing youth players in a fun, safe environment.

Responsibilities include teaching fundamentals, planning practices, leading games, and promoting teamwork. Commitment: Mondays, Wednesdays practice; Saturdays games, Beaverton YMCA; 6–10 hours weekly. CPR/First Aid preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous coaching or youth sports experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and game play.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to motivate and manage groups of young athletes.
• CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
• Must pass YMCA background check.

Responsibilities

• Teach fundamental basketball skills (dribbling, shooting, passing, defense)
• Plan and conduct engaging, development-focused practices
• Provide instruction, encouragement, and feedback during games
• Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive team environment
• Monitor player development and provide constructive feedback
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants
