Job summary

The YMCA of Columbia-Willamette, Inc. Beaverton location seeks a Semi-Competitive Basketball Coach for its Fall 2026 Developmental Basketball League.

This seasonal, part-time role focuses on developing young players ages 10-14 through fundamentals, drills, and game-day instruction. Responsibilities include planning practices, teaching skills, providing feedback, promoting sportsmanship, and ensuring safety.

Qualifications

• Previous coaching or youth sports experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to motivate and manage groups of young athletes.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
• Must pass YMCA background check.

Responsibilities

• Teach fundamental basketball skills (dribbling, shooting, passing, defense).
• Plan and conduct engaging, development-focused practices.
• Provide instruction, encouragement, and feedback during games.
• Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive team environment.
• Monitor player development and provide constructive feedback.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
