Job summary

Common Sense Media is launching the Youth AI Safety Institute in San Francisco, seeking a Standards Analyst to lead development and evolution of AI safety standards for youth-facing products. You will work closely with the Head of AI & Digital Assessments to translate research into accessible, verifiable standards and ensure alignment with organizational commitments.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.
4–6 years of experience in policy development, standards-setting, regulatory affairs, or related field.
Demonstrated ability to synthesize inputs into clear, well-reasoned documentation.
Proven ability to engage diverse stakeholder groups while maintaining independence and integrity.

Responsibilities

Draft, refine, and maintain AI safety standards for youth-facing products and platforms.
Translate research, expert input, and evaluation experience into clear, structured standards documentation.
Evolve standards in response to new evidence, feedback, and lessons from assessments.
Ensure standards are internally consistent and aligned with the Institute's mission.
Maintain rigorous documentation of the development process and public-facing standards.
