Job summary

City of Colonial Heights (Contract) seeks a part-time Support Worker to assist in the Kids' Achieving Progress afterschool program. You will support students and staff, implement age-appropriate activities, and help provide academic and social support for youth aged 9-14.

Hours are 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday (Fridays as needed), totaling 10–15 hours per week from September 2026 to April 2027.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Successfully complete a pre-employment medical/drug screening and criminal background check.
• Good communication, organizational and time management skills.
• Current CPR/First Aid Certification (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Assists Site Supervisor with daily functions of after school program.
• Adhere to policies and procedures to ensure safety and age appropriateness of all activities.
• Provide leadership and supervision to staff and children at all times; serving as a positive role model.
• Help implement and supervise a developmentally and academically appropriate program that meets the social, emotional and behavioral needs of the children.
• Maintain an organized, clean and safe learning and recreational environment for all program areas.
• Develop and consistently maintain appropriate and professional communication with parents.
• Communicate with school personnel to ensure a positive working relationship
• Participate in scheduled staff meetings and trainings
• Ensure the cleanliness of the rooms utilized
• Report all relevant information to the Program Coordinator in a timely fashion
• Complete accident, injury, and behavior reports when necessary
• Assume additional responsibilities as requested by the Program Coordinator
