Qualifications

• 30 months of experience coaching, personal training, and/or fitness instruction, or 30 months experience supervising incarcerated individuals and training/developing them.
• Associate degree in recreation or 12 months experience in activity therapy or recreation.
• Undergraduate core program in recreation or 6 months experience in activity therapy or recreation.
• 6 months experience as General Activities Therapist 1 or equivalent minimum qualifications for employment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and conduct activity programs for youth.
• Organize and conduct individual or group recreational/therapy activities (sports, arts/crafts, music, drama, fitness, community service).
• Develop and coordinate community service projects; maintain community contact with church groups and volunteers.
• Transport youth to off-site activities and coordinate with other agencies and DYS departments.
