Job description

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for assisting Human Resources Management in support of business initiatives for Liebherr Mining Equipment Newport News Co. (LME). The position establishes partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. Maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's midrange plans, its culture, and its competition. In addition to enforcing company policies and practices.

Responsibilities
  • Employee Relations: Guiding managers in addressing employee concerns and resolving conflicts in a timely manner to foster a positive work environment. Handling workplace investigations.
  • Staffing: Assist in administering the staffing function, including interviews, new orientation and onboarding process.
  • Compensation Review and Negotiation: Assist in the process of reviewing and negotiating employee compensation packages to ensure competitiveness and fairness.
  • Performance Management: Oversee performance appraisal processes and provide guidance to managers on employee development.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Training: Support in the development and conducting training sessions for employees at all levels.
  • HR Metrics: Assist in the preparation of HR Metrics using Excel.
  • HRIS: Provide support and maintenance of the Human Resources Management System (HRMS).
  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or related field required and 2-4 years of related experience in a human resources generalist or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Must have at least 1-2 years’ experience in a Manufacturing environment.
    • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential preferred.
    • Immigration experience preferred.
  • Experience handling and resolving employee relations issues, conducting investigations.
  • Demonstrated experience with compensation and classification, conducting salary analyses and making recommendations.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proven success working in an HR department, preferably in a generalist capacity.
  • Experience advising and informing senior leaders and executives.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications and/or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues within the department, fostering a supportive and cooperative work environment.
  • Demonstrate adaptability, open communication, and a willingness to assist in achieving team goals.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver license and passport.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule required to support U.S. Site locations and foreign affiliates.

      Time management: Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
