Job summary

Greater Austin YMCA is seeking a Yoga Instructor to lead classes and promote mindfulness and holistic health in our community. You will start on time, ensure safety, and align activities with YMCA Fitness Program objectives.

The role requires 1–2 years of teaching yoga, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications, and excellent communication. Join us to inspire participants, collaborate with a team, and help maintain a welcoming, health-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Must have beginner-level fitness skills and 1–2 years of yoga teaching experience.
• Certified Yoga Instructor with recognized accreditation (e.g., Yoga Alliance).
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.

Responsibilities

• Lead individual or group classes as designated by the supervisor.
• Arrive 7–10 minutes before class and be prepared to start on time.
• Submit proper maintenance requests for fitness equipment repairs and upkeep.
• Judge the appropriate level for all participants.
• Set up and put away equipment as needed.
• Understand and carry out YMCA Fitness Program objectives.
• Follow YMCA rules and policies equally.
• Follow YMCA Austin HR Guidelines, Code of Ethics, payroll procedures, and emergency procedures.
• Provide first aid as needed and file incident/accident reports for injuries.
• Attend required meetings and trainings.
• Support Center and Association goals through task completion and communication.
• Model the Y's mission, vision, and values for participants and staff.
• Represent the Y positively as an ambassador of the brand.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
