Job summary

YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a Part-Time Group Exercise Instructor for Yoga at Oak Square YMCA. You will lead diverse group classes in a safe, enjoyable environment, guiding members through movements while tailoring sessions to varied health and cultural needs.

The ideal candidate holds a current NCCA-accredited certification and has at least one year of group exercise experience, with the ability to teach specific formats like Yoga. Schedule offers part-time hours and hourly compensation.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in Group Exercise setting.
• NCCA accredited certification (ACE, AFFA, NASM, NSCA, ISSA, etc.).
• Current certification required for specific group exercise formats (e.g., Yoga, Spin, Body Pump).
• Experience in health and wellness programming and group instruction.
• Understanding of internal and external marketing/special events.

Responsibilities

• Leads energizing, safe, and educational group classes as directed by the supervisor.
• Assists participants and members to help them reach health and well-being goals.
• Maintains knowledge of wellness trends via YUSA courses and external training.
• Builds authentic relationships with members and connects them with the YMCA.
• Observes and adjusts classes for all participants’ capabilities and health conditions.
• Celebrates participant achievements related to goals and skills.
• Keeps accurate class attendance records using MotionVibe.
• Follows YMCA policies; responds to emergencies.
• Resolves member issues professionally in line with YMCA values.
