About the Role
The Yocto Project is seeking an experienced, community-minded LTS Maintainer to take over maintenance of its Long-Term Stable (LTS) releases, beginning with the upcoming Yocto Project 6.0 LTS release in April 2026.
This is a critical role that ensures long-term stability, security, and support for the Yocto Project’s LTS branches. You’ll work closely with the current maintainer during a transition phase and ultimately own the process of delivering quarterly (or more frequent) point releases.

Key Responsibilities
Maintain Core Yocto LTS Layers:
bitbake, openembedded-core, meta-yocto, and yocto-docs.
Monitor and Backport Fixes:
Review submitted patches, audit master and stable branches for fixes, and queue appropriate patches for build/test.
Release Management:
Plan and coordinate LTS dot releases, including release notes, build monitoring, test result review, and scheduling.
Security and Quality Assurance:
Track and assess CVEs, run tools like cve-check, and publish results.
Community Engagement:
Participate in mailing lists, collaborate with contributors, and maintain documentation and planning materials.
