Position:Community Service Aide Salary: $22 an hour

About the Job:

  • Performs work under the direction of a Case Manager, Site Coordinator, and/or supervisor.
  • Helps coordinate client assistance cases, and this work directly impacts client’s social, physical, and/or economic well-being.
  • Analyzes individual cases and works as a liaison to maximize the efficiency of service provision; e.g., helps people in need or in crisis work through their varied problems, helps community groups obtain assistance to accomplish neighborhood projects, works with service providers to identify service inadequacies and advocates to correct them.

Some of the exciting tasks you will do as a Community Service Aide include but are not limited to:

  • Serves as aide to Case Manager and Site Coordinator
  • Serves as initial communication contact, answers routine questions and provides selected information to clients through telephone contact and personal interviews
  • Finds and facilitates resources to assist families
  • Provides food, clothing, and housing referrals
  • Helps clients in filling out forms by helping to complete and/or reviewing applications, and completing client program records to qualify applicants for assistance.
  • Provides childcare or coordination of childcare (while parents meet with Case Manager or therapist)
  • Provides translation and interpretation
  • Assists with after school, evening, and summer programs, holiday giving program, clothing drive
  • Provides bus tokens, cab vouchers, and emergency food delivery
  • Helps individuals to define personal and/or family problems, and to decide on and follow course of action to solve those problems; assesses clients’ needs and eligibility for assistance, and identifies and eliminates barriers between clients and the services they need
  • Acts as a liaison between client groups and social service agencies to solve varied problems, which frequently involves telephoning on a client’s behalf, accompanying clients on appointments, or translating personal correspondence
  • Provides life skills instruction to clients in areas such as parenting, housekeeping, personal hygiene, self-sufficiency, and work readiness

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school education or GED
  • Experience level: 1 to 3 years of relevant experience
