Job description

The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas is currently seeking an outstanding candidate to serve in our Childcare Division as a Mobile Program Director Level 1. The Mobile Program Director in this position will be a support to the School Age Services Team by learning how to implement and deliver quality programming for our afterschool and day camp sites. He/she will train and shadow and work alongside a veteran Program Director at a designated territory to learn afterschool and day camp operations in a Director position and will report to the Senior Program Director in his/her territory assignment. Territory Assignment may change with approval of the Executive Director as the needs of the branch change.

The Mobile Program Director will have a designated office space at our White Rock YMCA. The Supporting Program Directors responsibilities will include but is not limited to: policies and procedures; licensing; interviewing and hiring; parent, participant, and school communication; following budgets. He/she will fill in as acting Program Director when positions are vacant to ensure that the staff are supported, the school is communicated with, and key relationships are nurtured in the interim until the next Director is hired. The Candidate hired for this position will support the mission of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas by promoting the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility, promoting mental and physical well-being for children, and ensuring that quality standards and licensing requirements are met. He/she will assist with staff hiring, supervision, training, and engagement, curriculum, and other opportunities as deemed fit by the Senior Program Directors and Executive Director. He/she will be assigned to a branch location to support our Annual Campaign efforts.

The Mobile Program Director will seek and participate in networking opportunities to increase program visibility and community awareness. This includes helping to ensure that branch staff have an understanding, appreciation and enthusiasm for the afterschool and day camp programs; ensuring that parents and school district personnel are highly satisfied with the YMCA afterschool and day camp programs; and ensuring that children have positive outcomes as a result of their participation in the YMCA programs. In collaboration with branch leadership, he/she will quickly identify, validate, and communicate plans for transitional support and continuous improvement to facilitate program effectiveness and change management. This position will also participate in the YMCA Annual Campaign, fundraising by YMCA standards to help support our financial assistance for all and out reach programs.

Hours for this position is Monday-Friday, 9:30am-6:30pm. Some Saturdays are required throughout the year due to events and trainings.

Mileage from home branch to other branches and sites are compensated.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in management in education or childcare, with 1 or more years of experience in multi-unit management or management of a large Afterschool Site (over 100) preferred
  • Supervisory experience required
  • A cooperative spirit, committed to character development in promoting and demonstrating the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in dealing with staff, lay leaders, YMCA members, program participants and the public
  • Strong skills in planning, recruitment, customer service and program development
  • Demonstrated ability to build and coach a team of individuals as business unit leaders
  • Ability to build rapport within the local community including school administration
  • Preferred applicants will have a BS/BA degree and/or are currently a Director Certified through Child Care Licensing
