Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment preferred.
• Valid driver's license; CDL preferred.
• Knowledge of equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
• Ability to read blueprints and construction plans is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate heavy equipment, including excavators, skid steers, and other construction machinery.
• Perform excavation, trenching, loading, backfilling, and material handling tasks according to project specifications.
• Conduct daily pre-operation and post-operation inspections of equipment.
• Identify and report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.
• Perform routine maintenance such as checking fluid levels, greasing components, and cleaning equipment.
• Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and project specifications.
• Maintain awareness of underground utilities and overhead hazards.
• Follow OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and all applicable local, state, and federal requirements.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, foremen, and crew members.
• Assist with manual labor and other construction duties when equipment is not in operation.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Complete required inspection reports, equipment logs, and other documentation.
