Job summary

Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha, NE is seeking a year-round Data Intern to turn data into insights and support data-driven strategies across the organization. You will assist in data quality, transformation, and reporting, partnering with leaders and cross-functional teams to develop dashboards, analyses, and presentations for stakeholders.

The role offers hands-on experience with BI tools and real-world challenges.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Economics, or a related field
• Familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools (Power BI or Tableau)
• Familiarity and experience using SQL and Microsoft Excel
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple assignments independently and within a team while meeting deadlines

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting, cleaning, validating, and organizing data from multiple sources
• Support development and maintenance of dashboards and reports to communicate key metrics
• Analyze datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement
• Ensure data accuracy through audits and quality checks
• Collaborate with team members to gather requirements for data-driven projects
• Document data processes and reporting procedures
• Prepare presentations and summaries of findings for stakeholders
• Support ad hoc reporting and analysis requests from business partners
• Learn and apply data management and analytics best practices
