The YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc is seeking a YBASE Group Leader to guide and supervise children aged 4-14 in daily program operations. You will implement director-approved curriculum, oversee attendance, assist with transportation, and help with meals while upholding safety and Judeo-Christian values.

You will work with the Site Director on records, participate in training, and contribute to family engagement and fundraising efforts as part of a supportive, mission-driven team.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Basic understanding of child development principles.
  • Experience with school age children preferred.
  • Must pass criminal background and fingerprint check.
  • Basic understanding of computer technology and ability to learn new systems.
  • CPR and First Aid required within 90 days of employment.
  • Bright From the Start training hours must be achieved annually.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise groups of children indoors and outdoors.

  • Assist with snack distribution and meal counts.
  • Sign-in/out and transportation sign-offs when applicable.

  • Assist with fundraising and member engagement activities.

GENERAL SUMMARYThe YBASE Group Leader is responsible for the leadership, guidance, support and supervision of children ages 4-14 years of age in the day-to-day operation of the YBASE Program. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIESMust engage actively while interacting with and supervising groups of children indoors/ outdoors.Implements curriculum to group provided by the Program Director to include setting up interest centers and gross motor equipment and activities indoors and outdoors.Assists Site Director in maintaining daily attendance reports, assigned records and other routine clerical tasks.Coordinating the transition of supervision between school day and parent pickup. To include ensuring children are properly signed in/out of the program and, if being transported by the YMCA, maintain accurate transportation records.If assigned to transportation duties, ensure all state requirements are met including proper supervision and maintaining accurate bus logs and checklists.Greet and integrate participants into the program and prepares children for parent pick up by assisting them with gathering supplies and signing in and out of the program.Assists the Site Director with general housekeeping tasks to include sanitizing and disinfecting YBASE areas and supplies to maintain health and safety standards.Works with the Site Director to distribute snacks and meals in accordance with the regulations set forth by Second Harvest and the YMCA including maintaining accurate meal counts. Submits snack counts and attendance to Second Harvest and cafeteria manager.Treats participants, families and staff with fairness, dignity and respect including but not limited to tone and all verbal communication.Upholds YMCA standards of professionalism in conduct, dress, and decorum.Participates in program feedback initiatives and participates in family engagement events.Required to report suspicions of child abuse and or neglect as a Mandated Reporter and provide documentation.Attends all staff meetings and in-service training programs as directed.Follows and maintains YBASE policies and procedures.Maintains state and YMCA training hour requirements annually.Performs other duties as assigned.Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service.Assist in the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCA.This organization has zero tolerance for abuse and will not tolerate the mistreatment or abuse of consumers in its programs. Any mistreatment or abuse by an employee or volunteer will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or volunteer service and cooperation with law enforcement. Employees and volunteers shall cooperate with any external investigation by outside authorities or internal investigation conducted by the organization or persons given investigative authority by the organization. An employee or volunteer’s failure to cooperate with an investigation will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment or dismissal from the organization.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
