Job summary

Ed Herrington, Inc. is seeking a dependable Yard Worker at our Hudson, NY location. You will greet customers, verify invoices, assist with loading, and help maintain inventory and a safe work area.

The role requires lifting up to 50–100 pounds and outdoor work in varying conditions, with full-time hours Mon-Fri and occasional Saturdays. We offer life insurance, disability coverage, a 401(k) with profit sharing, employee discounts, and paid vacation, sick, and holiday time.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1–3 months of related experience preferred.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers in the yard and warehouse areas.
• Review invoice tickets for accurate product selection.
• Assist customers with loading materials into vehicles safely.
• Direct customers to pickup locations to complete orders.
• Process invoice tickets according to company procedures.
• Receive delivery orders and prepare materials for loading onto delivery vehicles.
• Verify incoming vendor deliveries against purchase orders and receiving documentation.
• Assist with inventory counts and accuracy initiatives.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Operate powered industrial trucks and complete daily equipment inspection checklists.
• Cover and protect materials from weather-related damage when required.
• Report building maintenance and equipment repair needs to management.
• Participate in required training programs.
• Demonstrate teamwork, cooperation, and a positive attitude in all duties.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Physical Requirements

• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and vendors.
• Manual dexterity required to operate machinery and equipment safely.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and remain physically active throughout the workday.
