Job summary

American Fence Company in Des Moines, IA seeks a Yard Operations & Inventory Specialist to manage yard materials, operate forklifts and skid steers, and support inventory and customer service in a year-round, full-time role.

Ideal candidates have forklift/skid steer experience, ability to lift 100 pounds, and a strong work ethic. Background checks and drug screen may be required.

Qualifications

• Forklift and skid steer experience.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with inventory management systems.
• Customer service oriented.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record (CDL a plus!).

Responsibilities

• Safely operate forklifts and skid steers, load and unload trucks with fencing materials.
• Maintain yard to ensure proper storage and organization.
• Attend to company staff and customers in a courteous and professional manner.
• Assist with inventory counts and materials tracking.
• Perform general yard maintenance, including cleanup and minor repairs.
• Help with deliveries or other tasks as needed.

OurInventory Specialistsoperate heavy equipmentto load, unload, and organize building materials for wholesale orders and distribution for company jobs, assist with inventory, and attend to customers and company staff in yard operations, all while maintaining a safe and tidy working environment. This is a full-time position that works year-round. The ideal candidate has forklift and skid steer experience.* Must pass criminal background check and drug screen, if offered the position.*
