Job summary

Viking, a Texas tradition in fencing since 1972, is looking for a full-time, non-exempt Yard Worker to join our Sanitation division in Houston. The candidate will operate forklifts, handle pallet jacks, and help load and secure freight while maintaining safety standards.

Experience with forklift operation in a yard setting is preferred. Benefits include health insurance, a 401(k) with company matching, PTO and holidays, and HSA contributions. This position is on-site in Houston, TX.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of forklift operation in a yard setting (a plus).
• Positive and flexible attitude with a strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift and banding equipment safely and efficiently.
• Clean & sanitize rental equipment
• Use various motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jacks and dollies.
• Repair and stack panels.
• Make sandbags for temporary fence rental orders.
• Accurately load trucks based on outgoing orders.
• Receive inbound material and organize in the yard.
• Secure freight on trucks using appropriate tools and supplies.
• Work safely and efficiently, following company safety policies.
• Complete special projects as needed.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Operate forklift and banding equipment safely and efficiently.
• Clean & sanitize rental equipment
• Use various motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jacks and dollies.
• Repair and stack panels.
• Make sandbags for temporary fence rental orders.
• Accurately load trucks based on outgoing orders.
• Receive inbound material and organize in the yard.
• Secure freight on trucks using appropriate tools and supplies.
• Work safely and efficiently, following company safety policies.
• Complete special projects as needed.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

• Exposure to all types of weather.
• Regularly lift freight and objects (up to 50 lbs.).
• Safely navigate loading docks that may be slippery.
• Extended periods of walking and standing.
• Reach, bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, and kneel as necessary.

Requirements

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• 1-2 years of forklift operation in a yard setting (a plus).
• Basic welding experience is advantageous.
• Positive and flexible attitude with a strong attention to detail.
