Job description

As a part of our continued growth, we are looking for dedicated and passionate Yard Workers. As a Yard Worker, you will be responsible for removing parts from cars in our yard while maintaining excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Responsibilities:
  • Receives labels from supervisor for parts to be pulled.
  • Pulls and retrieves parts from vehicles in the yard.
  • Inspects parts and notifies supervisor of any damage.
  • Operates a forklift or order selector to transport parts in and about the warehouse.
  • Sorts and places parts and supplies on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence.
  • Responds to customer counter sales immediately by receiving orders, pulling products, and loading them into the customer vehicle.
  • Verifies in-stock position on products for inside sales staff.
  • Classifies all returns according to integrity and condition of parts, and prepares necessary forms for inventory adjustments.
  • Checks in defective parts and enters them into the computer system for return to vendor.
  • Signs off on all delete tickets, providing an explanation as to the reason.
  • Loads trucks according to the delivery schedule and performs a final check off of parts loaded.
  • Puts wheel cores in staging area for return to remanufacturing facilities.
  • Maintains orderliness and housekeeping of assigned work areas.
  • Complies with established company policies and procedures.
  • Assumes other duties as assigned.
  • Could operate a forklift or loader to assist in moving cars from process to the yard.
  • Cleans out debris from cars before they go into the processing area.
  • Pulls out batteries to be tested for resale and brings charged batteries to the retail area.
  • Works with Loader Operator to stage cars or pull cars in the yard properly.
  • Walks the yard and places debris in the cars being removed from the yard.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
  • Ensures all EPA and OSHA regulations are being met.
  • Wears all required PPE.
  • Initiates and supports the continual improvement of LKQ’s quality improvement system.
Job Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate a forklift and meet medium-level physical exertion requirements, including lifting up to 75 pounds frequently.
  • Basic math and reading skills to perform job tasks and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.
  • Must work well as part of a team and be willing to work long hours when necessary.
  • Display a positive, helpful demeanor, and a commitment to providing the best in customer service.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, as well as an office environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud. Should not have any lifting restrictions and must not be afraid of heights. Should be able to tolerate high and low temperature levels and occasional inclement driving conditions.
