Job summary

FedEx Corporation is seeking a yard switcher to move trailers to and from unload/load doors and throughout the yard, with potential physical loading/unloading and sorting of packages for safety and efficiency.

Essential duties include hitching/moving trailers, coordinating with management, documenting moves, and performing pre/post-trip inspections. May require repetitive lifting during shifts.

Qualifications

• No formal education required.
• Minimum 6 months experience as a package handler or switching/CDL operator preferred.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers between yard and doors as directed.
• Coordinate trailer movements with management and central control.
• Document trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Follow yard switching safety processes and procedures.
• Utilize hand-to-surface methods for package handling.
• Load and unload packages onto/from vehicles, trailers, and carts.
• Sort packages by scanning labels and memorizing information.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
