Job summary

FedEx Corporation is seeking a Yard Switcher/Package Handler to move trailers between yard and doors and assist in loading/unloading packages. The role involves coordinating movements, documenting actions, and performing safety inspections in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include hand-loading packages, sorting by conveyor and label information, and operating equipment like dock carts and scanners.

Qualifications

• No experience required; six (6) months of experience as a package handler or switching/CDL operator experience preferred.
• No formal education required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• Ability to understand and follow instruction regarding work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloading devices.

Responsibilities

• Move and switch trailers between yard and doors, and between doors and yard.
• Coordinate trailer movements with management or central control.
• Document trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Follow yard switching safety processes and procedures.
• Handle packages by hand using safe methods.
