Job summary

Milton Rents is seeking a reliable Yard Technician / Class D Driver to support our modern fleet of construction rental equipment. You will maintain yard organization, readiness of equipment, and deliver excellent customer service in outdoor, hands-on roles across our New England locations.

The position is unionized, pays $26.06 per hour, and includes benefits such as health insurance, PTO, a 401(k) with company match, and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High School Diploma or GED (trade school or related experience preferred).
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a valid medical card.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Strong attention to detail for documentation and equipment inspection.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 75 lbs. and standing, bending, and moving for extended periods.
• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform equipment check-in and check-out inspections and assist with basic preventive maintenance and general upkeep.
• Help load and unload equipment, including assisting customers and delivery drivers.
• Deliver and pick up small equipment and supplies as needed.
• Support the Inside Sales team by selecting appropriate, rental-ready equipment.
• Maintain equipment inventory systems in accordance with company procedures.
• Ensure equipment is clean, safe, and ready for customer use.
• Organize equipment efficiently to support smooth operations.
• Provide customers with basic operating instructions and exceptional customer service during equipment pickup and return.
• Use independent judgment to prioritize tasks and manage workflow.
• Support a safe, collaborative, and productive work environment.

As a Yard Technician / Class D Driver, you’ll be responsible for maintaining yard organization, supporting equipment readiness, and delivering excellent customer service.
