Job summary

C.R. England, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Yard Technician to join our logistics team in Utah.

You will oversee vehicle movement, inspections, and asset tracking within the yard, and support repair scheduling and sales processes. As ORBCOMM telematics administrator, you will manage GPS devices and fleet visibility across the system. The role combines administrative duties with hands-on yard work, requiring CDL experience, proficiency in MS Office, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class B CDL with air brake endorsement required.
  • Experience operating tractor-trailers is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Strong typing skills and the ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in the terminal yard (50/50).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate routing of vehicles to Salt Lake for trade-related repairs.
  • Perform basic condition assessments and yard checks in all weather.
  • Reposition equipment within the terminal yard as needed.
  • Collaborate with maintenance to create and expedite repair schedules.
  • Photograph units and manage image uploads for marketing purposes.
  • Post vehicles for sale via third-party platforms and monitor listing traffic.
  • Respond to sales inquiries via phone, email and text.
  • Assist with coordinating the sales process with the finance team.
  • Arrange pickup of sold units and communicate with buyers as needed.
  • Coordinate with vendors to facilitate ancillary services.
  • Shuttle vehicles to and from nearby offsite locations.
  • Maintain organized documentation and asset tracking using Microsoft Office tools.
  • Serve as the primary administrator for the ORBCOMM telematics platform and fleet reporting.

Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, experienced, and safety-focused Yard Technician to join our logistics team. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient movement, inspection, and tracking of vehicles within our facility. The ideal candidate will assist in coordinating repair timelines, providing regular status updates, and supporting the sales process through various operational and administrative tasks. Additionally, this position will serve as an administrator for the ORBCOMM telematics platform, managing GPS device assignments and reassignments, maintaining accurate asset tracking records, supporting system users, and ensuring the integrity of fleet visibility and reporting data

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the routing of vehicles to Salt Lake for trade-related repairs.
  • Perform basic condition assessments.
  • Complete yard checks of available equipment in any weather.
  • Reposition equipment within the terminal yard as necessary.
  • Work with the maintenance team to create and expedite repair schedules.
  • Photograph units and manage image uploads for marketing purposes.
  • Post vehicles for sale via third-party platforms and monitor listing traffic.
  • Respond to sales inquiries via phone, email, and text.

  • Serve as the primary administrator for the ORBCOMM telematics platform, managing system configuration, user access, asset tracking, and reporting functions across the fleet
  • Maintain accurate asset-to-device associations within the ORBCOMM platform, including the reassignment of GPS units during equipment transfers, replacements, and fleet changes.

Qualifications:
