Job summary

Paycom is seeking a Yard Manager to oversee day-to-day terminal yard operations under the Regional Yard Manager and Terminal Manager. The role trains and supervises yard drivers and staff, enforces safety rules, and coordinates yard services for on-time trailer loading and dispatch.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in trucking/logistics management with supervisory experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and knowledge of warehouse operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of trucking or logistics management experience.
• Experience in dedicated fleet operations is a plus.
• Knowledge of warehouse and distribution operations.
• Supervisory experience with varied skill sets.
• Customer service experience for time-sensitive deliveries.

POSITION SUMMARYUnder the supervision of the Regional Yard Manager and Terminal Manager, and in the absence of the Terminal Manager, is entrusted with responsibility for day-to-day management of terminal yard operations. Trains, evaluates, and directly supervises the yard drivers and other employees. Enforces safety and other applicable work rules. Coordinates the various yard services to facilitate trailer loading and dispatch departure schedules. Responsible for the safe and efficient utilization of all yard equipment.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESRecruit, train, schedule, evaluate, and direct the activities of Yard employeesAssure that all required corporate and/or customer reports are timely and accurately completed and submittedOversee the safe and efficient operation of all equipment assigned to the YardEnforce rules of conduct, safety and attendance for Yard employees and administer discipline with the advice and concurrence of the Terminal Manager and the Human Recourses DepartmentAdhere to and enforce all ethical standards by which the Company operates.Maintain flexibility to work various hours and shifts depending upon the operational needs of the terminalSuch other functions as may be assignedEnsures equipment is repaired and in communication with repair vendersEnsure proper maintenance of yard trucksConduct yard/safety audits dailyEnsure all yard rules are being adhere toEvaluating employee performance and documenting any employee counselingEDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTSHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
