The Yard Supervisor role at Townsend Building Supply (a division of Carter Lumber) is a hybrid of administrative work and working in the lumber yard. This is not a desk job by any means – you will play a very active and vital role in the functioning of the lumber yard!

Employee management, customer service and yard operations are the key components in this role. For employee management, you will be tasked with hiring, communicating, and disciplining.You will also be responsible for setting theproper example for all lumber yard employees to mirror.
For customer service, it’s important to be willing tohelp customers as needed. This entails assisting them with the selection and loading of their materialswith a friendly attitude.
For yard operations, you will ensure that material is accurately pulled and staged for pickup anddelivery. You will assist withdispatching by structuring the shipping of orders, including scheduling. You will be responsible for maintaining the inventory in the yard by conducting cycle counts and keeping the yard organized. You will ensure all yard policiesare followedincluding sales, inventory, and safety. Finally, you will take chargeofmaintaining all equipment; scheduling vehiclesfor service and keeping up their maintenance schedules.
