Job summary

Martin Marietta is seeking a Yard Loader to join our team in New York. The ideal candidate is safety minded, dependable, and motivated. The Yard Loader will operate a yard loader safely and maintain stockpile quality, while promoting site safety for truck drivers.

Hours are 5:30 am – 3:30 pm with overtime as necessary. Typical day includes operating the yard loader within guidelines, performing pre/post inspections, maintaining safe operations around conveyors and crushers, and assisting in

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Experience operating mobile/construction equipment and processing plant machinery.
• Front-end loader operation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate the yard loader within company guidelines and safety standards.
• Complete daily pre- and post-shift inspections of work areas and berms.
• Perform pre-shift safety inspections on equipment and report repairs.
• Ensure safe operations around conveyors, surge piles, and crushers.
• Perform daily preventative maintenance (tires, oil, grease, fluids).
• Maintain the quality of product stockpiles.
• Maintain safe traffic flow onsite.
• Operate other equipment as needed (excavators, haul trucks).
• Assist in training co-workers and perform other duties as assigned.

What to expect

Martin Marietta is seeking a Yard Loader to join our team. The ideal individual will be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated. This individual will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating a Yard Loader and maintaining the quality of product stockpiles. The Yard Loader operator will maintain safe working speeds and promote site safety by asserting leadership of truck drivers onsite. Hours are 5:30 am - 3:30 pm including weekends and overtime as necessary.

A typical day for a Yard Loader may include

• Operating the yard loader within the company guidelines and safety standards
• Completing daily pre and post inspection of working areas and ensuring they are equipped with adequate berms and roadways
• Performing pre-shift safety inspection on equipment and reporting needed repairs to the supervisor
• Ensuring safe operations around conveyors, surge piles and crushers
• Performing daily preventative maintenance - tire pressure, oil, grease, diesel fuel, hoses for leaks and all moving parts for proper function
• Maintaining the quality of product stockpiles
• Maintaining safe traffic flow throughout the site
• Operating other equipment such as excavators and haul trucks in a safe manner as needed
• Aiding in the training of co-workers as needed
• Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor

You may be a good fit if you

• Possess a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position
• Have experience in the maintenance and operation of mobile equipment, construction equipment and/or equipment used in processing plants
• Have experience in the operation and maintenance of a front-end loader (preferred)
