Job summary

Patriot Disposal / Apple Valley Waste in Hagerstown, MD is seeking a dependable Yard Worker/Laborer to support daily yard operations, move materials, and assist drivers and mechanics. You will help keep yards clean, organized, and safe while performing a variety of physical tasks outdoors.

The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-minded, and able to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Full-time position with benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Physically able to lift, carry, bend, push, pull, and stand long hours.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to take direction.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in waste/recycling/construction/landscaping/warehouse a plus.
• Forklift/skid steer/loaders/pallet jack experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform general labor and maintenance duties throughout the yard.
• Load, unload, move, and organize materials, equipment, containers, and recyclable or waste materials.
• Keep the yard, work areas, and surrounding property clean, organized, and free of hazards.
• Assist drivers, mechanics, operators, and other team members with daily operational needs.
• Help stage vehicles, containers, equipment, and materials for daily operations.
• Identify and report damaged equipment, unsafe conditions, spills, or other potential hazards to management.
• Assist with basic equipment and vehicle inspections as directed.
• Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of tools, equipment, containers, and work areas.
• Operate basic yard equipment and material-handling equipment when trained and authorized.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and environmental regulations.
• Properly use and maintain required PPE.
• Assist with snow removal, groundskeeping, debris removal, and other seasonal/general labor duties.
• Work collaboratively with the team to keep yard operations efficient and organized.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
