Job summary

Fabcon in Mahanoy City, PA is seeking a permanent full-time Yard Labor position (Shift 1st or 3rd) to support the manufacturing of high-quality precast concrete products. You will prepare and organize the yard, assist with crane operations, load and stage panels, inspect panels and equipment, maintain records, and keep a clean, safe work area.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work in all weather conditions with little to no climate control.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs, walk, climb, bend, reach and use hand tools safely.
• Ability to follow complex verbal instructions and work in a team environment.
• Willingness to work overtime when required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize the yard for panel movement and storage, including setting up rows and maintaining dunnage.
• Support safe panel handling and crane operations by coordinating with crane operators and directing movements.
• Load and stage panels for transportation and verify dunnage during loading and yarding.
• Inspect panels and equipment for damage, check tags, and perform daily truck checks (oil, fuel, tires).
• Maintain accurate yard records of panel moves, locations, trailer/load assignments, and cast numbers.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment by storing dunnage properly and keeping areas clear.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize the yard for panel movement and storage, including setting up rows, ensuring adequate dunnage, and maintaining proper dunnage placement.
• Support safe panel handling and crane operations by connecting/disconnecting cables, assisting with locating panels, directing crane operators, and ensuring panels are positioned straight and level.
• Load and stage panels for transportation according to load tickets, including preparing trailers for the next day’s first-round loads and verifying proper dunnage during loading and yarding.
• Inspect panels and equipment by checking panels for damage and required tags and completing daily truck checks, including oil, fuel, tires, and other basic operating conditions.
• Maintain accurate panel and yard records, including panel moves, yard locations, trailer/load assignments, and cast numbers.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by collecting and properly storing dunnage and keeping work areas clear.

Requirements

• Must be able to work in all weather conditions with little to no climate control and regular exposure to dust, dirt, noise, vibrations, varying lighting conditions, stairs, and narrow walkways.
• Requires the ability to safely lift and move up to 50 lbs., walk, climb, bend, reach, use hand tools with force, maintain spatial awareness and depth perception, and communicate effectively in a busy industrial environment.
• Ability to carry out complex verbal instructions.
• Ability to work well with others and maintain professional conduct.
• Ability to work overtime when required.
