Yard Jockey / Switcher / Warehouse Associate

Essential Functions:

1. Safely operate yard trucks to move trailers in and out of designated areas.
2. Perform routine inspections on vehicles and trailers to ensure they are in good working condition.
3. Assist with route driving when needed, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
4. Operate various types of trucks including roll-off trucks, tankers, and those with manual and auto transmissions.
5. Maintain organization within the yard to facilitate efficient operations.
6. Communicate effectively with team members regarding trailer movements and any issues that arise.
7. Move product using a variety of material-handling heavy machinery, (cherry-picker, for example).
8. Unload pallet/floor loaded inbound containers.
9. Accurately receive/label product via Warehouse Management System (WMS) using handheld RF equipment.
10. Safely and accurately move product to inventory stock locations using handheld RF equipment.
11. Safely and accurately move product from reserve to picking locations while meeting established productivity and efficiency performance standards.
12. Accurately read and apply picking labels to cases from stock locations for outbound orders.
13. Safely and accurately move product from inventory stock locations to staging lanes or conveyor induct stations.
14. Accurately follow RF or voice-directed picking instructions, selecting the required product/quantities.
15. Participate in counting of physical inventory.
16. Maintain safe and clean work environment.
17. Immediately report breakage to supervisor.
18. Maintain productivity and quality standards.
19. Follows all safety policies and procedures; communicates hazards and/or suggests improvements to manager.
20. Arrive to work, meetings, appointments and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled.
21. Meet established goals and objectives.
22. Ad hoc tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Working Conditions:

Warehouse environment; may be subjected to loud noise, temperature and weather extremes.

Equipment/Machinery Used:

Pallet jack, forklift, cherry picker, reach truck, RF device, voice pick system, time clock, office equipment (including computer/printer, fax, photocopier, calculator, and telephone).

Physical Requirements:

Manual dexterity, visual acuity, reaching, bending, sitting, standing, frequent lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Must have a valid CDL-A license.
2. High School Diploma or GED.
3. Proven experience driving tractor-trailers or similar heavy-duty vehicles is preferred.
4. Familiarity with load unloading procedures and freight handling techniques.
5. Strong understanding of route driving and logistics operations.
6. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
7. Experience moving product using a variety of material-handling heavy machinery, ("cherry-picker", for example) is preferred.
8. Ability to obtain forklift certification within 6 months of hire; Certified forklift operator preferred.
9. Demonstrated effective communication skills.
10. Must be able to work extended daily hours as business volume requires.
11. Must be able to work all holiday hours as the posted schedule requires.
